Care instructions
For over 30 years, we have been crafting exceptional ceramic products by hand. The clay mass we use has been developed and perfected over the years, which is why we are confident in the endurance of our tableware.
However, to ensure that VAIDAVA CERAMICS tableware will stand the test of time, it is important to follow a few simple guidelines:
- Our tableware is designed for serving food, rather than heat-based food preparation.
- After washing, allow the tableware to dry thoroughly.
- Store the tableware in a place with some air circulation.
- Using the tableware in a microwave may shorten its lifespan.
-
Avoid exposing the tableware to rapid temperature changes.
Can I use Vaidava Ceramics tableware on a stove?
No, Vaidava Ceramics tableware is not designed for use on the stove (nor an oven). The rapid temperature change caused by placing the tableware on a heat ring or flame can result in thermal shock and damage it. This applies to all types of stoves – gas, electric, and induction.
Can Vaidava Ceramics tableware be washed in a dishwasher?
Yes, however we strongly recommend choosing a gentler washing programme. Avoid abrasive detergents when washing the tableware, as they can cause accelerated wear over time.
After washing, it’s advisable to store ceramic tableware in a dry place with some air circulation. If the tableware does not dry completely and is stacked, light mould stains may appear due to moisture. Therefore, before placing the tableware in a cupboard with airflow, ensure that it is sufficiently dry. Just like laundry!
How do I care for Vaidava Ceramics wooden tableware?
Simply wipe wooden tableware and utensils with a damp cloth after use. Do not soak, wash, or use a dishwasher to clean them.
What should I do if cutlery leaves marks on ceramic tableware?
Interestingly, ceramic glaze is harder than soft metals, so the marks left by cutlery are simply metal deposits on the glaze, not changes to its structure. To remove these marks, use a product containing oxalic acid or gently scrub the location with the rough side of a sponge. However, avoid using metal scrubbers.
Can stains appear on the glaze of Vaidava Ceramics tableware?
If food is stored in the tableware for long periods, stains may occasionally appear on the glaze, especially from acidic or strongly pigmented foods like beetroot. Please remember that Vaidava Ceramics tableware is made for serving food rather than storing it. If a stain does appear, we recommend carefully scrubbing with the rough side of a (non-metallic) sponge or using a product containing oxalic acid.
Can stains appear on the unglazed surface of Vaidava Ceramics tableware?
Some Vaidava Ceramics collections feature tableware with unglazed exteriors. These are specially polished to close the clay pores, making them much more resistant to moisture and stains than standard unglazed ceramics. However, please avoid prolonged contact with oily or pigmented foods on the unglazed surface.
Do ceramic tableware items absorb moisture?
A common question is why the bottom of vases sometimes feel damp. Clay is a natural, porous material, so when a vase is filled with water and left in one place for a long time, minor condensation may form at its base. To prevent this, place coasters under vases and avoid placing them on varnished surfaces.
Are there harmful substances in Vaidava Ceramics tableware?
The entire manufacturing process takes place at our facility in Vaidava, allowing us to have full control over the materials and methods used. The glazes we use in our products glazing process are sourced exclusively from trusted manufacturers who conduct thorough material testing. Our rigorous testing observes safety standards that exceed those required by the European Union.
Why do some of my Vaidava Ceramics pieces look different?
All of our tableware is individually handcrafted. This means that there may be artisanal nuances in shape, clay tone, and glaze colour. This adds to their charm. These small, naturally occurring differences are an unwavering reminder of the authentic craftsmanship behind our products. Every piece is carefully inspected to ensure it meets standards and the expectations of our customers.
